Wine School: Old World vs. New World

It was our first ever Santa Cruz Wine School! Students learned the differences between Old World and New World wine production. We deciphered the ripeness, alcohol levels, acidity, soil types, cooperage, and use of oak (New vs Neutral, French vs American). Our tastebuds were our guide!

Local wine expert Adam Davidow led our tasting as we explored the theme through a comparison of Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc, from both California and France.

Monday, October 1st | 6:30-8:30p

We tasted and learned about the following wines:

2015 Moreau Bourgogne Blanc, Cotes de Beaune
2016 SLH Chardonnay, Santa Lucia Highlands
2015 Raffault Chinon, Loire Valley
2015 Andis Cabernet Franc, Amador County

Wine, cheese nibbles were provided.
